Targets and pathways
Overview
Dihexa is a small angiotensin IV-derived molecule developed to potentiate hepatocyte growth factor signalling at the c-Met receptor. It is not a conventional peptide — the hexanoic acid and aminohexanoic amide groups make it substantially more lipophilic than the parent sequence, which was the design goal.
Research use centres on synaptogenesis. Potentiating HGF/c-Met signalling is studied for effects on dendritic spine formation and synaptic connectivity, which is why the compound appears in cognitive and neurorepair models rather than in the cardiovascular literature where angiotensin IV analogues would otherwise sit.
In short
Where it is used
Dendritic spine formation and synaptic density are the principal measured endpoints in work with this compound.
Used as a pharmacological tool to potentiate an endogenous growth factor system rather than to substitute for it.
Part of the broader effort to separate the cognitive effects of the AT4 system from its cardiovascular ones.
Handling
Reconstitute with sterile or bacteriostatic water added slowly against the inner wall of the vial. Allow the cake to dissolve without agitation, swirling gently if required. Do not vortex or shake.
Lyophilised at −20 °C, desiccated and protected from light, stable for at least 24 months. Reconstituted and held at 2–8 °C, use within 28 days. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw.
Laboratory reference
Enter the fill weight on the vial and the diluent volume you intend to add. The calculator returns the resulting solution concentration and the volume that contains a given mass.
Figures are mass-to-volume arithmetic for laboratory preparation of Dihexa and take no account of net peptide content, which is stated on the batch certificate and should be applied to the fill weight before calculating. Nothing here constitutes dosing, administration or clinical guidance of any kind.
