Targets and pathways
Overview
This is residues 176 to 191 of human growth hormone, unmodified. The fragment retains the lipolytic activity of the parent hormone while lacking its growth-promoting and insulin-antagonising activity, which is the observation that made the C-terminal region interesting in the first place.
It is held alongside AOD-9604, which is the same region with an added N-terminal tyrosine. Comparing the two is how the effect of that modification is assessed, and it also guards against the frequent confusion between them in secondary sources — the two are routinely quoted under each other's names.
In short
Where it is used
Used in adipocyte preparations to study fat mobilisation independent of the somatotropic effects of full-length hGH.
Demonstrates that distinct activities of the hormone map onto distinct regions of the sequence.
Held against AOD-9604 to assess what the tyrosine modification changes.
Handling
Reconstitute with sterile or bacteriostatic water added slowly against the inner wall of the vial. Allow the cake to dissolve without agitation, swirling gently if required. Do not vortex or shake.
Lyophilised at −20 °C, desiccated and protected from light, stable for at least 24 months. Reconstituted and held at 2–8 °C, use within 28 days. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw.
Laboratory reference
Enter the fill weight on the vial and the diluent volume you intend to add. The calculator returns the resulting solution concentration and the volume that contains a given mass.
Figures are mass-to-volume arithmetic for laboratory preparation of HGH Fragment 176-191 and take no account of net peptide content, which is stated on the batch certificate and should be applied to the fill weight before calculating. Nothing here constitutes dosing, administration or clinical guidance of any kind.
Published work
Summaries of published findings, provided as research reference. These describe work done by others in preclinical and clinical settings; they are not claims about this material or outcomes for any reader.
Demonstration that the C-terminal region of hGH carries lipolytic activity separable from growth promotion.
